Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2026

Memiria is a private memory app. We collect only what's needed to provide the service, we don't share your data with advertisers, and you can delete everything at any time. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address (or Apple's private relay address if you choose to hide your email). We use this to identify your account.

GPS location. Memiria records precise location data while a memory session is active — including when the app is in the background. Location collection begins only when you start a session and stops completely when you end it. No location data is collected outside of active sessions.

Notes. Text you type during a session is stored and associated with your memory.

Photos. Photos you capture or select during a session are uploaded to secure cloud storage and associated with your memory.

Session metadata. We store basic details about each memory: start time, end time, duration, and approximate distance.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to provide the Memiria service:

  • To display your route on a map when you replay a memory
  • To store and retrieve your notes and photos
  • To generate an AI-written recap of your memory (see section 3)
  • To identify your account and keep your memories private to you

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to providing the service.

3. AI Recap Generation

When you open a memory for the first time, Memiria sends the text of your notes to Anthropic's Claude API to generate a short recap. Your GPS route and photos are not sent to Anthropic — only note text is used as input.

Anthropic processes this data in accordance with their privacy policy. We do not permit Anthropic to use your data for model training.

4. Third-Party Services

Memiria uses the following third-party services:

  • Google LLC — authentication via Google Sign-In
  • Apple Inc. — authentication via Sign in with Apple
  • Anthropic PBC — AI recap generation
  • Amazon Web Services — server infrastructure and photo storage
  • Mapbox — map tiles displayed in the app

Each service is used only to the extent necessary to provide Memiria's features and is governed by its own privacy policy.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on servers in the United States. Photos are stored in Amazon S3. Route data, notes, and account information are stored in a PostgreSQL database. We use HTTPS for all data in transit.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, all associated memories, notes, photos, and account information are permanently deleted from our servers. Deletion is irreversible.

7. Your Rights

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Settings screen inside the app. You can also contact us at feedback@memiria.com to request access to or deletion of your data.

8. Children's Privacy

Memiria is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Memiria after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
